Like a caged lion, Shane roars out of the gate on this one, with all the pent-up passion of a performer who hasn’t been able to perform. He’s just so freaking funny as the man of a thousand voices salutes everybody from Christian Bale to Little Richard to Bill O’Reilly to Ray Charles and the wah sound. What’s it like for a working musician without live gigs? Don’t go looking for him on Facebook Live, not Shane anyway. He’s probably too busy cooking.
We do get serious for a bit, especially in paying tribute to some music giants who left us since Episode 29.
Shane also takes us back to his day working the bar at the Claremont on Sherbrooke where he also selected the music. That’s how we met.
Also up for discussion was the Ken Burns Doc ‘Country Music’ and the under appreciated Marty Stuart.
As an added bonus Shane picked up an acoustic guitar early in the podcast and it remained nearby, leading to a stunning cover of John Prine’s best known song to bring it home.
Many thanks to Simon at Seratone Studio who stayed in master control the entire time, in case you were wondering about virus protocol. But then again, he works the same way every time.
And our wonderful sponsors who are just coming back to life again and need your help. The Monkland Tavern, Brutopia Bru Pub and Mirela’s are all serving again. Mirela’s is doing take out and delivery in Kahnawake. The Tavern has its best dishes available for pre-arranged pick up and you definitely don’t have to go thirsty (or hungry) knowing the latest batch the Bru has brewed up. Please support them when you can. Thank you.
Now here’s Shane getting going a bit crazy while auditioning for a future JFL gig.
