Friday November 30, 2018 at Fairmount Theatre
Billy Bob Productions and close to 400 friends partied the night away while Bilal Butt and his new nine piece band blasted some classic rock to warm up the stage for Tommy Youngsteen who ripped through a two hour plus set of the best of Bruce Springsteen with a special visit from Santa Claus.
It was an opportunity for us to bring down the curtain on a busy and eventful 2018 and to say thank you to many of you who support(ed) our shows from St. Henri to Club Soda to Casa del Popolo and The Fairmount.
It was Alan Snoddy and Tommy Youngsteen who kicked off the year in high style with a February tribute show to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in front of an overflow crowd at the original Turbo Haus location on Notre Dame West (since moved to St. Denis). We packed Club Soda twice – On April 6 for The Southern Soul and Rock and Roll Revue – and again in late September for the “Is This A Joke? No, It’s A Roast” of Tony Marinaro, hosted by Derek Seguin. An early November Saturday night performance by Andrea Ramolo covering mostly Leonard Cohen songs from her latest album ‘Homage’ was an emotional and welcome change of pace, as Andrea sang her heart out on the stage at Casa with guitarist Joel Schwartz and keyboard player Derek Giberson just a few blocks from where Leonard used to live.
So to wrap up the year at Fairmount Theatre, where it’s always cool to see some friendly, familiar faces led by Olivier Corbeil (retired bass player for The Stills), we let it all hang out. Hope you enjoy another beautiful photo album by Eva Blue.
We have plans for a major event late in 2019. In the meantime thanks to Shane Murphy, Lloyd Fischler, Gary Silverman, Leonard Yelle, Kesh Dheer, Ken Doran, Eva, Tim Snow, Oliver, Rubin Fogel, Arlene Slavin, Mike Griffin, Bill Brownstein, and our many friends in the media who help us get the word out.
We take great pride in putting local talent on stage in front of a good crowd. But we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for continuing to support our efforts. Please follow Billy Bob Productions on Twitter (@ProdBillyBob) for breaking concert announcements and all kinds of cool music content. And keep listening to the Melnick ‘N Murphy podcast available exclusively right here on this website. I hope you have as much fun listening as we do putting it together every couple of weeks, thanks to Alan Hodgson at CNS Studios and Lorne Rubin of Paramount Financial Services.
Happy Holidays!
