At the beginning of the week we had learned that the Miami Marlins were up for sale. We also learned that the price tag was 1.6 billion dollars and the Kushner family was the interested party.
If you didn’t get a chance to hear my weekly radio spot on Melnick in the Afternoon (Mondays at 6:25), I went into detail about the Kushner family. Firstly Jared Kushner is married to Ivanka Trump. His father Charles Kushner spent two years in jail for illegal fundraising campaigning and tax evasion, and, oh yeah, he also sent a hooker to his brother in laws’ house and had it filmed so that he wouldn’t testify against him in court. And I thought my family led a dramatic life…
Now comes the news that Jeffrey Loria might be offered the US Ambassador job to France. Now that you have regained consciousness, this may be a wrinkle in the sale of the Marlins. It also may be a wrinkle in the future of France but that is for another time. Reports suggest the Kushner family will pull their offer for the purchase of the team if Loria takes the position. The Kushner family have said that they do not want this unrelated transaction to complicate the purchase process and will not pursue it.
I am curious and looking forward to see if 1.6 billion dollars is more important than the ambassador job in France. With that type of money he can buy an island in France and be the President. We will learn a lesson shortly if power is more important than money.
